Cropped and detail images of my work

I love spending time in nature, traveling and learning about other cultures.  Always aware of color, pattern and texture, these life experiences are inspiration for my work, which is reminiscent of nature, oriental rugs and fabric.  Over the years I have worked with many different mediums including: mixed media, print making, photography and cold wax, but my work now focuses primarily on Encaustic, a combination of beeswax, damar resin and pigment.  I am fascinated by the translucency of encaustic and the dimensionality that can be achieved with it.  In my work, I employ my signature method of applying minute droplets of encaustic, one by one, to the surface of the painting, creating a tactile quality that when viewed in person, engages those who encountering it.  It’s an obsession that I’ve committed myself to investigating, making it my realm and exploring what I can do with it.
