Strata 9538 will be on display at the Freeport Art Museum 19th Regional Juried Exhibition. This annual competition is open to artists living in Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Michigan, Minnesota and Wisconsin. Approximately 50 works were chosen for inclusion. This exhibition will be displayed in the two main-level galleries from May 6th - July 19th, 2023. FAM has gained a distinguished reputation for displaying a wide range of contemporary art, this exhibition has become a favorite.

This year's juror: Joshua Johnson is the Assistant Curator for Contemporary and Interdisciplinary Art at the Figge Art Museum in Davenport, Iowa. He received his MFA in Studio Art from American University in Washington, DC, his BFA in Sculpture and Painting from Dominican University in Oak Park, Illinois, and has done additional graduate work in Museum Studies at Western Illinois University. Joshua has worked at the Figge since 2015, when he started as a Graduate Assistant in the Curatorial Department. In addition to working at the Figge Joshua has taught art courses at Muscatine and Scott Community Colleges for the last 8 years. He has also acted as a juror for various exhibitions throughout the Quad Cities region.

Strata 3744 chosen by Juror Mini Peterson to be included in the 4th Annual Juried Art Competition and Exhibition, It's Not All Black & White, at the Blue Moon Gallery in Grayslake, IL. A thought-provoking and dramatic presentation of fine art exploring the colors BLACK, WHITE, and all the GRAYS in between.

ABOUT THE SHOW

This year's juror selected artwork from 37 artists living and working in IL and WI who submitted to our Call For Artists for this unusual exhibition. The artwork selected represents 18 different artistic mediums including acrylic, watercolor, gouache, and oil, scratchboard, encaustic, photo-based processes, embroidery & stitchery, graphite, charcoal, pastel, chalk, ink, woodblock printmaking, collage, jewelry, wood, and plaster.
